Xiaomi celebrates its tenth anniversary and to commemorate its success, the Mi Fan Festival 2020 is scheduled on Friday, April 3rd. If we look at the Mi Fan Festival last year, the Beijing company is expected to launch a list of devices, including Internet of Things (IoT) hardware. Last year, Xiaomi also offered discounts on many of its smartphones in India, as part of a sale at the Mi Fan Festival. However, it is unlikely to follow the same trend this time, given the coronavirus outbreak and national blockade in the country.
Xiaomi’s Weibo official account unveiled the Mi Fan Festival 2020 to celebrate the company’s tenth anniversary. A preview posted through the account highlighted the launch of 22 different products at the event that will start at 2 p.m. CST Asia (12:00 IST) on April 3.
Xiaomi did not provide details on the products to be launched during the My Fan Festival 2020 event. However, it has led to the arrival of several new smart home devices. However, the company is unlikely to introduce new smartphones.
Last year, Xiaomi organized the sale of the Mi Fan Festival in India to celebrate its anniversary with customers in the country. Limited-time sales are offered on Mi TV models, also by Poco and Redmi smartphones. It also conducts a Re. 1 flash sale.
That said, the company is unlikely to follow the same trend this year, as the closure due to the coronavirus outbreak has affected the country’s operations and periodic sales. Also, the company announced on Wednesday the price increase for its smartphones, due to the increase of the GST rate for mobile phones.
Unlike India, Xiaomi is currently recovering from the impact of the coronavirus in China. The company, during Tuesday’s earnings call, said total revenue was up 27% for the October-December quarter.
