If launching a trendy smartphone wasn’t enough this week, today we saw Asus tear the packaging off its next-gen gaming beast. The company launched Asus ROG Phone 3 around the world, including India, at a virtual launch event. ROG Phone 3 builds on the legacy of its crazy and popular value-for-money predecessor. It is the first Snapdragon 865+ phone to be launched in India, which features a 144Hz display, 64MP triple camera array, and a massive 6000mAh battery.
ROG Phone 3 follows the same design philosophy as its predecessor. You still find small bezels, both on the top and bottom in the front, but they are considered essential for a satisfying gaming experience. The bezels help avoid unintentional touches, which is great, but the biggest plus is that there’s room for two front speakers. It’s one of my favorite features here.
The design of the back panel remains almost the same. Iridescent lines, an angular camera module and a heat vent complete the look of the gaming phone. It features a triple array of cameras, an RGB illuminated ROG logo and Gorilla Glass 3 protection at the back. back. The fingerprint sensor sits under the display and the phone still weighs a lot – 240 grams, to be exact.
ROG Phone 3 Price & Specification
On the front, the Asus ROG Phone 3 has a large 6.59-inch Full-HD + AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 144Hz / 1ms and a touch response rate of 270Hz. is higher than ROG Phone 2 refresh rate of 120Hz / 240Hz touch response rate. The panel features 19.5: 9 aspect ratio, 113% wide DCI-P3 color gamut, Delta-E <1, 10-bit HDR10 + certified and up to 1000 nits of maximum brightness.
Under the hood, Asus ROG Phone 3 is powered by the Snapdragon 865+ chipset that was recently announced by Qualcomm. This is one of the first phones to be backed by this slightly overclocked flagship chipset. You will also find up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage onboard.
We can’t go without talking about the thermals of this gaming phone. ROG Phone 3 arrives with the 3rd-gen GameCool system in tow. It sports a 6x larger heatsink, redesigned Copper 3D vapor chamber, and a larger graphite film, as per the official press release. Asus states that its thermal system will help keep the temperature in check, offering a stable gaming experience.
Air Triggers 3
The Taiwanese giant is building on existing ultrasonic shoulder buttons with new motion-tracking gestures. The ROG Phone 2 has added touch and slide gestures in addition to the usual functionality of aerial triggers. However, there is much more you can do with ROG Phone 3, as it now also supports “slide” and “double partition” functions.
The swipe feature, as the name suggests, allows you to slide your finger right or left on each air trigger to perform 2 more actions. This means that you now have five touch inputs via the pneumatic triggers. If that’s not your cup of tea, you can split the length of the air trigger in half (virtually) and get four buttons on top while playing in landscape mode. The former will surely come in handy for quickly popping a bandage or medicine cabinet in a PUBG fight.
Additionally, Asus continues to offer additional ports on the edge of the ROG Phone 3. It includes a side-mounted USB Type-C port, as usual, for connecting accessories and the charging cable while in use. phone in landscape mode.
Asus ROG Phone 3 Camera
The already likable dual-camera setup aboard the ROG Phone 2 gets an upgrade in line with the times. You now have a triple camera array aboard the ROG Phone 3, which is helmed by a 64MP (f/1.8) Sony IMX686 sensor. There’s a 13MP (f/2.5) ultra-wide camera with a 125-degree FOV and a 5MP macro camera onboard as well. It supports up to 8K video, 4K slow-mo video recording, and a Pro mode.
We expect the cameras aboard the ROG Phone 3 to be pretty decent even though it’s a more gaming-focused phone. Let’s not forget the 24MP selfie camera baked in the top notch.
Another highlight of the ROG Phone 3 is the massive 6000mAh battery. It was the main attraction of its predecessor and was loved by users, so it’s here to stay. The phone also supports fast charging up to 30 watts, which Asus says can drain a battery by 75% (around 4,510mAh) in just 46 minutes.
This sounds good for hardcore gamers, who can plug their phones in and quickly have a fee to keep training. The only thing games want: However, it lacks a 3.5mm audio jack in action. Asus combines the AeroActive Cooler 3 with the ROG Phone 3 not only to recover the 3.5mm jack, but also to further reduce the temperature to a 4 degree Celsius.
